Hi,
I am 19 years old and from the UK. I am working in a settlement company in London- its my first job.
I have always wanted to move to LA and wondered if anyone has any tips on jobs/housing.
A family friend lives in Santa Monica and has made a good life for herself out there- Santa Monica/ Venice is the kind of area I am looking to move to.
Are there any specific jobs that LA needs right now?
Any information or advice would be greatly appriciated.
Many Thanks,
Grace

i’m finally moving into a flat of my own and i’m kind of lost regarding utilities: gas, electricity, water, etc.
can anyone provide tips on how to organize all this, as i’m new to this (never called utility companies myself, never directly paid bills myself).
also, what is normally the first utility company you call? i’m thinking electricity.
how long can you expect these things like water, gas, and electricity to come to your home?
any advice is appreciated!
thanks

I was driving a company car and rushing to a job site with a problem on Sunday am on Rt.9. Was pulled over at 94 mph in a 65 mph. Was given a ticket for speeding at 85mph.I would gladly pay the money to a Victims’ fund or something, I just do not want this to go on my record in MVD. I could loose my job over this ticket. I do have a clean driving record as of now.How could get this not prosecuted? Is there a way to get this moved to a different Court(in a different town)? Here in Middletown they do not accept a charity payment instead of paying the fine, one town over(where I actually live) they do. Please help,I am desperate for an advice (I can’t afford a lawyer). Thank you,T.

In August, I am moving to Colorado from Louisiana to go to school for equine studies at Colorado State and I would like to bring my horse with me, not only because I want him with me, but I would also like to participate in some of the equine teams at the school that require having your own horse. I was thinking about using a horse transporation company. Any ideas/tips/suggestions on companies?

I am working at a contract position. The company headquarters is moving soon so I am training someone to do the work that I do.
She is very agressive and machoacting. She constantly tries to find mistakes in my work or work that I show her. She also wants to show that she is smarter than anyone else and can learn quicker and make the process better.
How should I deal with her? Other contractors also feel the same way.
She is the kind of person that uses you when she needs you and otherwise does not talk to you. They say Hi to her in the hallway and she does not respond.
I don’t want to say anything to my boss. Its best just to grin and bear it.
Does anyone have any other tips? I think if let her be, she will dig her own grave or make her own strong position. I am just her to do my job which if it includes training her, that’s what I have to do. I am at least earning money for it.

After looking up how expensive it is to pay a professional moving company, I’ve decided to hire my own movers. I know a number of men who have the time and ability to do it, and I trust them with my stuff. I would like to hire two for the big move.
I’m moving from a first floor house. All of my things will already be organized and packed, they will just need to be loaded into the truck from the house. I’m already getting a 16′ truck, so I won’t need to pay them for that.
My new place is less than 10 miles away, and it’s a 2nd story apartment. My stuff all fits in a one-bedroom apartment.
How much should I pay each person I hire? I’m intending on paying in cash. I also intend to have food and drinks out for them.
**additionally** Any other tips you can provide would be helpful! Like advice on moving into a 2nd floor apartment?

I am graduating early (on Halloween) and I am starting college during Spring… but I do not want to any type of higher education in CA because I know that I will be stuck here. I want to move somewhere cheaper, etc. And Fayetteville looks beautiful. My mother runs this company and she knows a lot of people from different parts of the US so I know that she can find me a good paying job somewhere, so money will not be an issue. What do you think of Arkansas? It looks really quiet and green. I like quiet and I like to just sit around and look at nature. I was thinking about going to school there? I want to move by the summer of ‘08. Even if I do not get a job that pays $600 a week, I get SSI until I’m 21 ($500) so rent will never be an issue.

I am helping my daughters family pack for a move out of state. They leave in 2 weeks and have a LOT of stuff. We are having a yard sale next weekend. Fortunately, the weather will remain hot and sunny for the duration so we can use the yard for sorting. A professional moving company will be packing so nothing can be packed by the family. Also, any garage sale tips will be greatly appreciated! Thanks! An OVERWHELMED MOM AND DAUGHTER!!!!!!
