I am sick of companies (i.e. electric, apartments, water, cell phone) trying to take advantage of me and get more money out of me when accounts are closed, bill me for service that I didn’t use, charge me for things that were broken before I even moved in. How can I fight and even stop this from constantly happening?

I moved in to a house with 3 other girls who signed a lease. It was only temporary….even though I left they still hold me responsible for rent and won’t let me get the rest of my items. They say we had a verbal agreement.

I work for a moving and storage company and recently one of our packers had an accident with a whale tail soapstone sculpture. When she laid it on the paper the tip of one of the tails broke off. Is soapstone really that breakable? Inside was not all crystal blue like the rest of it, one part was brown and looked as though it was glued together before. Anyhow, these people are telling me that it is not repairable and will continue to deteriorate because of the damage. Can anybody give me any insight?

Hi,
I am moving from Cincinnati,OH to Charlotte, NC (about 450 miles).
I am considering a professional mover for this. I have a 2 bd rm apartment with minimal furniture, I would guess total shipment would be 2000-2500 lbs max.

Chapter 1
“WHAT?!” My best friend screeched, dragging her feet to a stop on her swing.
“It’s true.” I sighed. “My own father, who is 4 points shy of a GENIUS, has been fired, which is RUINING my life.” I was telling my best friend, Cad Shern, about how MY daddy, computer genius, accidently crashed his whole business’s system, and got himself kicked out of WLC incorporated.

I’m an 18 year old female moving to California in about 6 months. I wanted to rent a studio apartment, and get a data entry job. I don’t have very much experience, but I can type 8500 kph which is way over what most companies require, or just right. Would I be safe living in a studio apartment, by myself, riding public transit, and the occasional taxi cab to get my groceries / pay bills? I have an uncle there, and my dad passes through on his truck runs (semi truck) but I would be basically on my own. I wanted to move there, and work there for a year to garin my residency, and then attend college. I’m not very big. I’m only 5′ 1. Would I be targeted a lot? Would it be reasonable to think that I could safely ride the bus to and from work, if my apartment was on the bus lines? I just want some general tips, and answers to some of my questions. Please no answers with just no you can’t, or I don’t know.
I’m moving from Montana, to LA, and have never lived in the big city before. I have been reading a lot about Los Angeles, and I know how huge it is, and how expensive it is, I’m just looking for safety tips. And also would 12 – 14 dollars an hour be enough to support me in an 700-950 dollar a month apartment?

I came into a start-up company as one of their first employees and worked there about 4 months. It was a casino and I was a poker dealer. I left January of 2007. I need a reason for leaving the company without making them sound bad (even though they were) so new employers won’t think I’ll bad-mouth them also.

I want to move to NC from SFLA but I don’t know how to begin starting from scratch. Is it easy to get stable in NC like for example find a job, buy a house, is auto insurance cheap? I am twenty years old, I do not have a college degree of any kind, I’ve worked as a file clerk with the same company for 3 years. I have a car. I want to move away from here but I have no clue how to relocate and establish myself. Any tips or personal experience anyone wants to share?
