Moving ourselves and not hiring movers? Advice?
fu taitai! asked:
This is the first time my husband and I are moving without the help of movers. We are moving in about two weeks. Questions are.. 1. Where do you get the boxes and whatever you use to wrap stuff in? 2. Moving stuff like dressers, bed frame, mattresses? Any tips? 3. Best truck rental company? Any other tips are greatly appreciated, I need all the help I can get. Thanks!!

The grocery store will give you boxes, and old newspaper works just fine as stuffing material. Be prepared for stress, I’ve been moving every year for the last 6 and I know it *****.

1. I bought it at the rental office where I was leasing the moving truck. Boxes are cheap enough and protect the contents well. Sure you can get handout boxes for the grocery stores, but I think you’ll find out (like I did) it’s difficult to arrange space with boxes of different sizes.
2. Pay the extra for a appliance dolly and hand truck. Makes moving all those heavy boxes and big appliances lots easier.
