when to tip movers?
patricknewyork asked:
I hired a moving company for a long distance move with a total bill of $1,700. I intend to tip each worker $40 when they pick up my items. Do I also have to tip when the items are delivered to my new home? If I do, what is considered usual and customary at point of delivery?
I purely want to tip cash. Please be precise as to when I should tip. Obviously, the people packing and picking up the items will be different from the ones delivering the items. Thanks!

I would say to wait until they have delivered your property and then check for damage if your property is damaged and you have already tipped them it will be an issue if you have to take it to court…

I have never heard of tipping movers and have employed movers myself more than once. In fact, six years ago, I moved twice in a six month period, out of a 4,000 square foot home into a much smaller one. The moves were quite expensive and done by a national moving company. I felt like I was paying the company enough money without having to tip the movers.
